This is a really cool website I visited this week.  It is called Blitzortung.  It allows you to track lightning in real time all over the world. It also archives the information so you can find out how many strikes were in a certain area during a certain storm.   They are looking for people in North America to assemble lightning detector kits and become part of the project.
